Absolution Lost in the Cross-hairs
40x60 in. Casein and mixed media on Museum Board
I am not a deer hunter. However, I do know that there comes a time whilst concentrating for hours in a wooded landscape, when the foliage takes on an abstracted two-dimensional quality.
This piece divides this new landscape into the four quadrants of a telescopic gun site, each with its own deer. The cross-hairs are formed by the negative space between the imagery.
